Roadway Projects

Each year, the Engineering Department determines roadway maintenance priorities in a fair and responsible manner. It is important that the roadways are constructed and repaired properly at a reasonable cost. The Engineering Department prioritizes streets for repair based on a “worst first” philosophy. Streets are analyzed visually, and data collection begins in the fall and winter months prior to the submission of a draft program to Council. Each year, City Council reviews and approves the streets included in the annual program and approves an annual budget for these improvements. The annual street maintenance program includes, but is not limited to, sidewalk replacement and installation, asphalt resurfacing and reconstruction, concrete panel replacement, bike pathways, striping and crack sealing.

Intersection Improvements & Traffic Issues

Intersection improvements, as well as speed and traffic studies, are also the responsibility of the Engineering Department. It is the City of Hudson’s intent to provide a balance between the ability of residents to travel in the City to handle their day-to-day activities and the need to provide a safe environment for those living along the busy streets, while maintaining the City’s historical nature.
