Pursuant to Article III of the Charter of the City of Hudson, Ohio, the City Council consists of seven members who serve as the legislative body of the City. Four members are elected by ward and three are elected at-large. The President of City Council is elected by its members. City Council’s powers include all legislative powers and determination of policy, appointment of the City Manager, appointment of the Clerk of Council and confirmation of City Manager’s appointment of Finance Director, Police Chief, Fire Chief, Director of EMS and Solicitor. They also appoint members of the Park Board, Cemetery Board, Tree Commission, Planning Commission, Board of Zoning and Building Appeals, Architectural and Historic Board of Review, Personnel Advisory and Appeals Board and Charter Review Commission. Finally, they serve as liaisons to various citizen boards, committees and commissions.
